To be friends with the dogs, first we need to learn about dogs.

There are total 299 types of dogs in the whole wide world. They can be classify to different group. Lets us have a quick look in this video 

Family Dogs

                                                  

Beagle
Characteristics : Gentle, sweet, and funny

Height : Average 13 to 15 inches

Weight : Between 18 to 30 pounds

Life Span : 10 to 15 years

Beagle need early socialization when they are young to help them to be a well-rounded dog when they grow up. They also very playful, when they are bored they will start finding ways to amuse themselves like howling or digging. But they also targets for thieves .

Bernese Mountain Dog

Characteristics : Affectionate, intelligent, alert, gentle, calm, and tolerant.

Height :  25 to 27.5 inches (Male) , 20 to 23 inches (Female) 

Weight : 80 to 115 pounds (Male), 70 to 95 pounds (Female) 

Life span: 6 to 8 years

Bernese Mountain Dog known as Berner. Sometimes they are gentle, but sometimes they accidentally knock over a small child or toddler. Since he has a very large size and also bred to be a working dog, the Berner likes to learn and can easily trained. 

Golden Retriever

Characteristics : Sweet and Calm 

Height : 23 to 24 inches (Male) , 21.5 to 22.5 inches (Female)

Weight : 65 to 75 pounds (Male), 55 to 65 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 10 to 12 years

Golden Retrievers are active dogs, so they need almost 40-60 minutes of hard exercise daily. They are gentle and trustworthy to the kids. They also love to eat, quickly will become overweight if overfed. 

 Collie

Characteristics : Sweet, Friendly and gently

Height : 24 to 26 inches (Male) , 22 to 24 inches(Female)

Weight : 50 to 70 pounds

Life Span : 10 to 14 years

Collie usually quite unless there is anything happen, then she will bark, for example, when she is left alone too long. They very sensitive to  medications. She's a good watch dog.

SPORTING DOGS

Brittany

Characteristics : Happy and alert

Height : 17.5 to 20.5 inches 

Weight :  30 to 40 pounds

Life Span : 10 to 13 years

Brittany, they are high energetic dogs, they need at least 1 hour of intensive exercise each day. They don't like to lest alone for long period, is better to have 2 Brittany when outgoing, so that they can keep each other company. Although they are friendly and like children but is not recommended to let them play with the kids, because Brittany are very energetic, they might hurt your child. 

German Shorthaired Pointer

Characteristic : Smart, Friendly and Willing

Height : 23 to 25 inches (Male), 21 to 23 inches (Female)

Weight : 55 to 70 pounds (Male), 45 to 60 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 12 to 15 years

German Shorthaired Pointer is a very smart dog, he does everything without being nervous or flighty. They also is a high energetic dog. they need at least 1 hour of intensive exercise, each day is recommended. Without sufficient exercise they may become nervous and destructive. But because they are so intelligence, they will find something to keep them busy. 

Welsh Springer Spaniel 

Characteristic : Trainable and eagle to please

Height : 18 to 19 inches (Male), 17 to 18 (Female)

Weight : 40 to 55 pounds (Male), 30 to 50 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 10 to 15 years

Welsh Springer Spaniel were developed to have great stamina and energy. Be sure to let have enough exercise or he may become nervous and destructive. They have a "soft" personality, so they will not respond to harsh training methods. House Training can be a challenge. They can suffer from separation anxiety if they were left too long or much.

Vizsla

Characteristics : Lively, Gently and affectionate

Height : 22 to 24 inches (Male), 21 to 23 inches (Female)

Weight : 45 to 65 pounds

Life Span : 10 to 14 years

Vizsla are active breed and need at least 60 minutes of exercise everyday. They enjoy long walk, jogging, and playing fetch as well as dogs sports. This species are not recommended for people who work long hours, they will suffer separation anxiety. Vizsla do well with others dogs as well as the cats if they raised together. 

NON- SPORTING DOGS

Bulldog

Characteristic : Sociable and sweet

Height : 12 to 15 inches

Weight : About 50 pounds (Male), About 40 pounds(Female)

Life Span : 8 to 12 years

Bulldog can be stubborn and lazy, they are not very energetic when going a walk.  But it is important he is exercised everyday to keep him fit. They are sensitive to cold weather. Bulldog is a lover, not a fighter. He's dignified rather than lively and has a kind although occasionally stubborn nature.

Shiba Inu

Characteristics : Good-nature, alert and bold

Height : 14.5 to 16.5 inches (Male), 13.5 to 15.5 inches (Female)

Weight : About 23pounds (Male),17 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 12 to 16 years

Shiba Inu is a intelligent breed who learns quickly, but he often choose whether he want to do or not to. He will chase small animals he perceives as a prey. Shiba Inu is small and athletic. He is like a ninja warrior, he moves quickly, nimbly, effortlessly. He is keen and alert. But because of his independence, he is not the easiest breed to train. 

Chow Chow

Characteristics :

aloof, reserved, independent, dignified, intelligent, and stubborn.

Height : 17 to 20 inches

Weight : 40 to 70 pounds

Life Span : 12 to 15 years

A good chow should never be aggressive or shy. They tend to mind their own business and not usually start trouble. Chow Chows may bond with just one person or to their immediate family. They're suspicious of strangers. They usually play with their people like family, strangers are no interest to them unless they are introduced by thee owner. Chow Chows can live in the apartment or condo as long as they get daily exercise. 

Boston Terrier

Characteristics : Lively, Smart, Affectionate

Height : 12 to 17 inches

Weight : 3 classes, 15 pounds, 15 to 19 pounds, 20 to 25 pounds

Lie Span : 13 to 15 years

Boston Terriers can be uncontrollable about their food, so must monitor their conditions and make sure they don't become overweight. Although they are small but they are sturdy and muscular. They love children and amuse people of all ages with their antics and unique, appealing expression. But because of their short coat, they can't really stand extremely cold weather.

HERDING DOGS

Border Collie

Characteristics : Alert, Energetic, Hardworking and Smart

Height : 19 to 22 inches (Male), 18 to 21 inches (Female)

Weight : 35 to 45 pounds (Male), 30 to 40 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 12 to 15 years

Border Collie is not  dog to lie quietly on the front porch. The Border Collie doesn't usually roam, but his curiosity and intelligence can lead him to become an escape artist. He must a task, whether it's actually herding sheep or competing in dog sports.

Canaan Dog

Characteristics : Alert, Vigilant, Devoted and Docile

Height : 20 to 24 inches (Male), 19 to 23 (Female)

Weight : 45 to 55 pounds (Male), 35 to 45 pounds (Female)

Life Span : 12 to 15 years

His territoriality, which kicks in at about age of 2, makes the Canaan a good alarm dog. He sure bark whenever there is person comes to the door. Canaan Dogs required a securely fenced yard. But this breed is not the best choice of first-time dog owner. Their intelligence makes them highly trainable. 

German Shepherd Dog

Characteristics : Aloof, Loyal

Height : 24 to 26 inches (Male), 22 to 24 inches (Female)

Weight : 75 to 95 pounds 

Life Span :  10 to 14 years

He is a reserved dog, he doesn't make friends immediately, but once he does, he will be extremely loyal. When threatened, he can be strong and protective, making him an excellent watchdog. The German Shepherd is an active and intelligent dog. He must be kept busy learning, playing, daily exercise and working.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Characteristics : Happy, Loving, and intelligent

Height : 10 to 12 inches

Weight : not more than 30 poun ds

Life Span : 12 to 14 years

They are easy to train, but don't expect your Pembroke to be subservient. They like to think for themselves. While they are intelligent dogs, they also can be stubborn. If housebreaking is a problem, create training is advised. They are very good watchdogs, they will quick to bark if feel that something or someone is threatening their home and family.
